I started shortly after 7am at -2°C and followed US-50 all day long while it got warmer and warmer. The whole route led along the shoulder of the highway and there was quite some traffic, especially in the morning hours. So far this day has been the one disappointing one: the scenery left and right was boring, very little change, not particularly nice, so there were very few reasons to stop. I hence made it to Fallon early with my bicycle, but it was simply too far to go for the next possible stop.
I was staying at the Comfort Inn right on US-50 at the entry to Fallon. The usual industrial and commercial surrounding from many US towns: a Burger King, a McDonald’s, a Walmart, some car shops. Overall disappointing. What is presumably a main street or downtown area is a 30 minute walk away, and I’m not going to do this. So I have dinner at a Vietnamese place next door and go to bed early.
